Christmas Eve found us at Bass Pro Shop taking pics with Santa...We had so much fun and it wasn't busy at all, surprisingly! There was so much FREE fun to be had!
The carousel was adorable!
There were all different animals.
Violet loved it!
Did I mention it was FREE?!?!
I was so happy that Violet did well with Santa!
Not the best pic, but with four kids, Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-84744960253615432232012-12-20T15:29:00.001-05:002012-12-20T15:29:51.404-05:0012 Days of Christmas*Teachers' Gifts...Days 11-12
Day 11...happy, scrappy signs. Since my Cricut took a nosedive on me, I had to go to my local scrapbook store to cut the letters. I just bought some wood, had it cut to size, painted it, and Mod Podged on the letters. I drilled a hole to put the wire thru to make the signs hangable{which is apparently NOT a word-ha!}, and tied a bunch of ribbon on.
Day 12...Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-31512781264708663522012-12-14T15:48:00.000-05:002012-12-14T15:48:30.840-05:0012 Days of Christmas*Teachers' Gifts...Day 10
Day 10...Wooden Nativities. I found the tutorial, or basic instructions, here. I glued my people together, as I didn't want them to wiggle or come apart. I also sanded my wood, but the original maker did not. Other than those few little differences, I mostly followed her instructions. I love the simplicity of these!
This is how I packaged them up. I Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-86915075299619347522012-12-13T12:12:00.000-05:002012-12-13T12:12:13.602-05:0012 Days of Christmas*Teachers' Gifts...Day 9
Day 9 brought the teachers pumpkin bread. I got the packaging from Michael's...a Martha Stewart Christmas clearance!

Day 8 brought felt snowflake ornaments from Target, along with Hershey's Kisses and peppermints.
I put them in a quart size Ziploc bag and stapled a doily to the top. A stamped tag finishes it off!

Hey there! I hope y'all had a great weekend! We did! We had two cookie exchanges, so it was a super busy, fun time!
Day 5 of the 12 Days of Christmas was snow globes! I'm sure you've all seen these around Pinterest and other blogs. I love them! They are super simple and inexpensive to make. I saved my jelly and spaghetti jars, so it brought Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-82975374356442308982012-12-06T16:48:00.000-05:002012-12-06T16:48:38.415-05:0012 Day of Christmas*Teachers' Gifts...Day 4
Day 4...I made tags that the teachers can either tie on a package or decorate with. My personal favorite is the snowman. I just found a vintage snowman postcard, saved, and printed it to size. Then, I just used a glue stick to adhere it to my tags, which I soaked in a bath of coffee and cinnamon to age, then used good ole Elmer's to make a bead around the edge and sprinkledElisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-78789424231700974982012-12-05T09:17:00.000-05:002012-12-05T09:17:28.260-05:0012 Days of Christmas*Teachers' Gifts, 1-3
I got this hair-brained idea to do a 12 Days of Christmas gift giving extravaganza for the kids' teachers this year. You know, cause I'm not busy enough! Aren't we all, though?
So...Day 1 was homemade hot chocolate mix, that I just put in mason jars and added cute lids. The little bags hold marshmallows and Bob's peppermint sticks.
Day 1 all packaged and ready forElisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-57633801206455789642012-09-04T13:59:00.001-04:002012-10-10T11:43:14.399-04:00Horsey Love...
One of Lilly's friends is into horses. As in, she has won first place in her shows. The sweet thing broke her arm and so we decided to make her a care package. I made a horsey hair clip inspired by this girl's.
Lilly made a little hoop art for her friend. I think she did a great job!! We threw in a few other store-bought goodies and called it done!

This Spring, my mom and I hosted a baby shower for my baby brother's girlfriend. I knew immediately I wanted to go with a vintage, travel theme. I made the banner hanging on the fireplace out of thrifted men's shirts. The "B", for Braxton, is just covered in atlas paper and wrapped with twine. A couple of vintage suitcases, a globe, a vintage camera, and atlas Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-66695996022082173472012-08-24T16:30:00.000-04:002012-12-05T09:19:51.144-05:00Friday Thrifting...
Today Violet and I went to visit a friend who had a baby, but first we snuck in a little trip to the local thrift shoppe. I picked up some books to use in my Fall decor, a vintage camera to add to my ever-growing collection, fabric, a wreath form, and a pretty blue and white plate.
I also found this darling coat and sweet little white shoes for Violet. Well folks, it's back to school time in our neck of the woods!! This is Fisher's first year leaving the nest and the first of my children to ever go to pre-k. I miss him already...sniff, sniff.
Lilly is officially a first grader!! We love her teacher AND she has had all the diabetic children that have come thru, so that makes this Momma feel very confident!
I Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-59173525173983815332012-07-05T20:03:00.000-04:002012-12-05T09:20:47.220-05:00Any K12-vers out there???I'm happy to report that we survived a year in public school, but both Jackson and Lilly are both begging to be home schooled. Of course, that could have to do more with staying home and playing. ;)
Have any of you tried K12? I would love to know the good, bad, and ugly. Otherwise, please leave in the comments the curriculum that you tried and love.
Thanks so much!!

I will be staying with Jenny{my bestie from the westie, you may know that already}...I "met" Jenny{on the left} from a swap Emilie{on the right} hosted a few years ago. Some of you may remember last year when I posted about being featured on Edie's blog, Life in Grace. I didn't take it very well. Over the course of time, it has gotten easier and I can say, "Why not my child??" I wouldn't have chosen it, but if her having diabetes draws someone else closer to God, then so be it. He could have let Lilly die, but he chose to save her. For that we are very grateful.Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-87523494009380350162011-09-28T13:47:00.003-04:002011-09-28T14:08:41.741-04:00A Few Thrifty Finds...Hey there, y'all!! Just wanted to pop on to share some thrifty finds I've gotten lately. You know how sometimes you want to wait to share something until its "done"?? That's how I felt about showing y'all this table, but I don't feel like waiting. Ha!! My friend, Amy, found this table in my favorite little church thrift shop a few months ago. I went to go look at it, but it was out of my Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-80414712872560846792011-09-02T08:54:00.003-04:002011-09-02T09:37:31.661-04:00Friday mishmash...I drove my children to school this morning, just like any other morning. Except that this morning happened to be trash day. I felt my van turn down into this neighborhood right before the school. I saw what looked like it could have been a metal shelf in a trash pile. I was thisclose to picking it up. Since I wasn't sure if all the components were there, I decided to drive on. This Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-15715318000439538712011-08-28T22:09:00.004-04:002011-08-28T23:22:42.032-04:00Embracing where I'm at...{my view while washing dishes}
I'm not gonna lie. I've been fighting a bad attitude for weeks now. My perspective has been about as fuzzy as parts of the picture above. Let me start this story at the beginning.
Where we used to live was a small town that was primarily middle to lower class. I mean, I felt down right highfalutin when I walked into Wal-Mart. Any of y'all that know me in real Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-91087268411838149982011-08-26T10:37:00.006-04:002011-08-26T11:34:00.328-04:00There's this spot...So, there's this spot in my kitchen. Its right between two sets of cabinets{or my stove, rather} with an entry door in between. I've found several inspiration pics online that I love the idea of. My pictures aren't in the best order for explaining what I want to do. How's that for confusing?!?!
Okay, so one idea is the keep the spot open{actually, my trash can is by the stove, appetizing, eh?Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-71265768009641680192011-08-08T10:51:00.003-04:002011-08-08T10:57:41.195-04:00Off to School...Today is the first day of school for our neck of the woods!! This is Lilly's first year of school. I was so worried about her going, because of her diabetes. I've met with the nurse and teacher, love them both, and now have no worries!! I think Lilly is going to love school!!
Jackson is going to third grade this year!! His teacher seems awesome, too!!
Happy Monday, friends!!Elisehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00669663704444452161noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1614248588211038897.post-66360775002749817002011-08-05T19:35:00.006-04:002011-08-08T11:01:47.684-04:00Bits of color thru the house...A few weeks ago, my friend Jenny, from Lipstick and Laundry, hosted a Color My Week party. I couldn't get it together then, but did take a few photos from around the house to share.
First we have green in the kids' bedroom. Oh, they are all bunking together now. Fun, huh?!?!This is above Jackson's bed. I looked up one day and noticed most of the vintage children's books were green.
