BeautiFALL...

This Fall has been absolutely gorgeous!! I couldn't let this season pass me without blogging about it. This post is quite picture heavy...
The above picture was taken probably in September. A little early Fall...

This tree is down the road from my house. I loved the colors of it this year!!

Same tree, different angle...

Another beautifall tree...

Same tree as the other couple pics. I love the variegated leaves. God did a great job, and just because He loves us!!

I love the rustling of the leaves...my new favorite nail polish...

Trees in my side yard...

Cory and I celebrated 10 years of wedded bliss{um, okay, maybe not blissful all the time} and got some time away in the mountains. It was gorgeous when we went!!

This was near the center of town.

We had to hit a few local yard sales, right?!?! This was someone's backyard!! I would never tire of this view!!!

Back home...my Fall flag and FREE pumpkins!!!

One of my new friend's and I went to our girls' Kindergarten class to do a Thanksgiving craft. We took in a fun, festive treat!!

I made a ruffled burlap valance. I love it, but its not really for perfectionist's. I'm in recovery. ;)
I still have two more to make...

On the opposite side of the living room sits my craft cabinet. I painted it and now have issues with my doors sticking. I'll get around to fixing it eventually.
Jenny, my bestie from the westie, made my photo booth props. They are so cute, huh?!?!

I just tied a vintage doily around a jar with thrifted lace, set atop a vintage frog...threw in a folding measure tape for good measure{??}...hahaha!!
{If you look closely, you can see my old window treatments in the mirror...actually not so old, just made them a few months ago, but they have got to go. For now.}

Of course, I "Falled" up the dining area. Do forgive this photo quality. My camera and I are working on our relationship. Its a little more take, and I just give, give, give!!
You'd know, after I uploaded the photo, I realized the tray is way high, however, my microwave used to sit on the buffet. Attractive, yeah...

Here is a little close-up...The pinecone turkeys are the craft I did with Lilly's class. She is thankful for Mom, Dad, Tree{the first word she could spell, aside from her own name-but hey, I'm thankful for trees, too. Obviously...}, and Toes{toys}...The little fabric turkey I made a few years ago with the kids' hands. I found a tutorial after I made ours, and yep, I did it the hard way!!

An embellished candle...take one of those awesome, inexpensive candles from Wal-Mart, and mod podge scrapbook paper, doily, and tie twine and you have a cute decorated candle. These would be an awesome teacher gift, too!!

The backroom...Finally, at long last, I got the curtains made. I'm am so pleased with how this room is shaping up!!

I received this leaf garland a few Fall's ago. I love the way it looks hanging in the window!!

It wouldn't be Fall without Halloween. Or would it?? I was just "okay" about Halloween this year. You can tell I went all out for the costumes. Fisher fell asleep on the couch around 5:30, and didn't wake up until the next morning, so it was just me and the biggin's. Along with some new friends.

We went to the apple orchard. Yummy, fresh mountain apples!!

Jackson turned 9. My, oh my, where is the time going?!?! He requested pancakes, so the Pioneer Woman pancakes it was!! See the cake mix box in the corner. I decided to pull a little prank on my prankster. Well, really, I couldn't find tape, so I wrapped his Tony Hawk{free from Kohl's-yay} shirt around a movie and put it in the cake box and hot glued it close. He had requested strawberry cupcakes for school, so this was perfect!!

His party theme took a couple turns before being a game night. This was his cake before it got mutilated. Um, yeah...

I had a birthday. I turned 33 on 11, 11, 11-how cool is that!?!?!
My little people got me cozy socks, which I love, and made me the sweetest cards!!

When we got home from our anniversary trip, not only was my house spotless{thanks, Mom!!}, I had a package waiting. Jenny made this altered art for me. Poor thing, I think she was afraid to send it, because after she had made it, we were talking about aa and I said I didn't care for it. I guess I said it, but I had to reiterate that it was the scary kind with the eyes from one person pasted onto another person's face. Yikes!! This kind of altered art I LOVE!! Its fun, not freaky!!
Anyhow...this is my fun, happy corner of my kitchen!!

Happy Fall, Y'all!!!!

A Few Thrifty Finds...

Hey there, y'all!! Just wanted to pop on to share some thrifty finds I've gotten lately. You know how sometimes you want to wait to share something until its "done"?? That's how I felt about showing y'all this table, but I don't feel like waiting. Ha!! My friend, Amy, found this table in my favorite little church thrift shop a few months ago. I went to go look at it, but it was out of my budget at the time. I decided I would make myself paint and sell my other table first. Well, last Thursday I had to run an errand in the same town as the thrift shop so I ran in there to see if it was still there. It was!! I think they had it priced so high no one would buy it. This place is normally so cheap on everything else, too. Anyway, I managed to talk them down $40, so even though I still paid more than I wanted, saving $40 was awesome!! Now I just need to finish my other table and get it sold!!
Y'all can see that I decided to go with the red chairs from Ikea!! For some reason my husband isn't super sold on them with this table. On the subject of the table, I cannot decide if it needs a makeover or not. My thought was to maybe re-stain the top a dark walnut and paint the bottom white. I kind of like it like it is, too. What do y'all think??

I found these owls at Goodwill a few weeks ago. I thought they looked so sweet. However, they will be getting a makeover. I trying to decide on a funky green or teal. Any opinions?? These cute hoots will go into the kids' room. Y'all might remember I briefly mentioned that all four of them are sharing a room...I'm trying to make it as gender neutral as I know how. And I don't. I am gleaning a lot of inspiration from all of you, however!!

Ahhh...this table. I've actually had it for over a year. I paid $20 for it at a yard sale and was so tickled pink to have a table that not everyone else does!! I did paint and glaze the wood top. The lamp is also a secondhand find. Brass originally, I sprayed it with a Fern spray paint and it looks fab!! We had to put a few of our favorite Fall books in a basket!!

Anybody else seeing the irony{no pun intended} of all the dust on my "Domestic" piece?!?! Hahaha!!!

P.S. I'm listening to Christmas music right now...How crazy is that?!?!

There's this spot...

So, there's this spot in my kitchen. Its right between two sets of cabinets{or my stove, rather} with an entry door in between. I've found several inspiration pics online that I love the idea of. My pictures aren't in the best order for explaining what I want to do. How's that for confusing?!?!

Okay, so one idea is the keep the spot open{actually, my trash can is by the stove, appetizing, eh??} and have this big metal trash can there. I found one at an estate sale for $10, but I'm holding out til tomorrow, when it will be half price and hopefully still there...
{this can sells on Amazon}

Along with the trash can, I'd do hooks kind of like The Pleated Poppy's above to hang my bag and Lilly's bag.

OR...I found this idea via pinterest via Design*Sponge. I love the use of shelves by the stove and I actually have a shallow bookcase that would fit perfectly in my spot. This would be great for storage, because I don't have a lot of space in this kitchen.

Here are a few more shots of my space. This is the door to the carport that we always use.

Here is a better idea of the space.

And just another{pitiful} shot...

Okay, y'all...big metal trash can and hooks, or a bookcase???

Bits of color thru the house...

A few weeks ago, my friend Jenny, from Lipstick and Laundry, hosted a Color My Week party. I couldn't get it together then, but did take a few photos from around the house to share.

First we have green in the kids' bedroom. Oh, they are all bunking together now. Fun, huh?!?!
This is above Jackson's bed. I looked up one day and noticed most of the vintage children's books were green. The door I found at the Restore last summer. The J came from Kohl's. I still need to add something else up there.

I've been collecting vintage thermoses. Love the way they look all grouped together!!

My "Nancy's"...

On a bookshelf, we have a little aqua.

and white...
{the owl pitcher is from Hobby Lobby-in the Fall section...very Anthro, no??}

Aqua shutters in the bathroom...

Vintage yellow scale in the kitchen. I know y'all are jealous of the peachy-pink tiles!! Hahaha!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Little BugaBoo...

Lilly took this picture of Violet with my phone the other day. She was sitting beside her and put the sunglasses on her. I asked Lilly to take a pic since I couldn't see. Then I sent it to Jenny and she enhanced it with little butterflies. How cute, huh?? She makes me so happy!!! Speaking of happy, y'all have got to check out this super fun doily banner Jenny just posted...

Now, I think I've totally fallen off my rocker. Remember when I posted about those Ikea chairs?? Well, I got the red ones. And I like them, I do. Then I saw these beauties at World Market and fell in love!!! I originally wanted aged metal chairs, but the price is a lot more than I was willing to pay. If I return the Ikea ones, use a coupon, and a gift card I just received then these chairs will be quite economical.

I found this picture on World Market's website and I am really digging the bold wallpaper. What if I just did one wall in my kitchen??? What do you think???

What do y'all...

think of this chair??

I originally saw this chair here...Its from Ikea and I think it is a nice mix of modern{can't believe I just said that in a positive way!!} and vintage. My table is wooden and soon to be white. I think these chairs would be kind of fun!! What do you think???

Dreamin'...rolling ideas around...

I really miss my view...this sunset was gorgeous one January evening.
Anyway...onto the point of the post.

We have this room in our little house{cottage??} that I call "the back room". The first time we lived here{remember we rented it before, then bought a house, now we are here again...making it home and I LOVE it!!}
This room is going to be the game room, so to speak. As in, I want a tv back here for the wii and gamecube and Jackson got an air hockey table from his grandparents Christmas '09 and its still in its box, so we have to carve out a space for it in this room. Okay, so in the above picture, you can see a set of windows to the left. Those look out onto the back yard. The wall straight ahead, to the right of the windows, will hold a sofa.

The house is older and has fabulous mustard linoleum, which surprisingly I kind of like and its working for me, I think. Let it be said, that we cannot even see this mustard wonder floor right now. Never fear, though, my wonderful, beautiful Mom is coming to stay Wed. thru Sat. and we will unearth it. I'm sure there might be other names describing her after she leaves. ;) Just kidding, she is great!!
What you see now is the door which is on the same wall as the sofa will be. The small window was the original kitchen window that looked onto the backyard, which now looks onto this room. I didn't remember to take a picture from the other side, but it just has an opening connecting it to the rest of the house and its opposite the door leading outside.

I found this lovely room from Pure and Lovely. And it is lovely, indeed. It was sort of the jumping point for my room. I love all the fun, cheery fabrics, the curtains, the rug from Target. The rug from Target...Well, I was originally going to get this rug, but after reading a few reviews, I don't know. I know you can't see a big picture of it, but here is the link. It really is pretty, but just wait til you see the other choice.

I am not loving the current green walls. They are kind of bringing me down, so I am going to paint them Comfort Grey by Benjamin Moore. I painted my master bathroom this color at the other house and loved it!! I love this slipcovered couch from Ikea. I love that I can wash the slipcovers and change them out on a whim. Now, I am cheaper than cheap so I am trying to find this sofa on Craigslist.

I plan to make some fun throw pillows like this bird one from Anthropologie. Yeah, the one I mentioned way back in November.

This fabric is gorgeous and what was used in my inspiration room. It was on backorder from fabric.com, but was finally restocked and I should have it within the week!!! Just a little ditty for you, go to retailmenot.com and look for coupon codes. I not only got free shipping because I spent more than $35, I also got 15% off!!

The rug...be still my beating heart!!! I saw this rug from World Market and fell in love!! I think I may love it more than the other one. Yeah, I do!! Best of all, its half off right now AND I can get free shipping. I'm having trouble pulling the trigger here, but it is such a gorgeous rug and would really make the room.
Let's all picture together now...Walls in Comfort Grey, those gorgeous yellow curtains, white slipcovered sofa filled with bright, fun pillows, that rug{!}, wall art-I'm thinking embroidery hoops filled with fabric intermingled with these bird art cards{that I have somewhere...} and my collection of R's, and framed pics of my sweetie children. Yep, I can see it!!
Still on my list to find...a shorty armoire that I can paint green. Well, I did find one, at Goodwill, but they wanted $150 and it was DONATED to them!! But, that is a different post for a different day, right??
Happy Day, girls!! Hopefully, I'll have a good start on this room this week. Of course, I'll share pics along the way!!
