Summer Fun Swap!!!

Monica at The Homespun Heart and her sister, Carrie, host these super fun shoebox swaps and I couldn't resist joining in. My partner was Chrissy and this was her first swap. We decided to do a Summer Fun with Vintage Flair for our theme. I think she did great!! She sent me some fun flip flops and foot scrub. Lilly and I had fun using that together. Also included was two nest votive holders, two nest plaques, an R plaque, and my favorite-a vintage ice cream scoop and sprinkles in a mason jar!! The sprinkles in a jar was the cutest thing ever and inspire my kitchen counter vingette. I'll share that another day. Hopefully before summer is over!! ;)

Look at the packaging. So sweet!!

Here is a closeup of the nest plaques. I love the saying, "A crowded nest is best." So fitting here!!

Chrissy also sent this heart wall hanger-love it!! And this believe sign{?}...

She didn't leave the kids out, either!! Lilly was excited to see rock candy, sparklers, and pinwheels. So much fun!!
Thank you Chrissy, for an awesome swap package!!
Now for what I sent...

Here is what I sent to Chrissy. She mentioned liking the button flowers I made and shared a few posts back, so I had to make some for her, too. Chrissy likes to scrapbook and make tags, etc. so I sent some scrapbook papers and a stamp. I also made her a raggy flower pin to wear, a patriotic clothespin doll{Chrissy has gorgeous red hair that I have to buy out of a bottle, so I thought her doll should too}, a frame that I painted and embellished with yo-yo flowers, a book on creating fun memories with your children, some flower seeds and an embellished cylinder.

Some close-ups of the details...

The doll is holding a "sparkler" that I made from a star button and wire.

Another view of the cylinder. I used hymnal paper, scrapbook paper, and bird images from a bird watching book. I mod podged all that on, then inked it a bit, and then glued vintage crocheted lace around the top. Love the way it turned out!!

Button flower goodness...

I also included a glass flower frog turned recipe holder. I got the silver fork at an antique shop and decided to share a few of my favorite summertime recipes.
I had fun making and collecting things for this swap!! Thanks Monica and Carrie for hosting!!

Redeeming Father's Day...

I saw this idea in an etsy shop, by way of this girl's blog{she's my newest blog crush, by the way} sidebar. LOVED it!! I told Jenny about the idea and we tossed around ideas. Then she came thru for me and emailed me the pattern that she drew. Jenny's awesome like that!! You may notice four leaves. We are having our fourth little one, Violet, on August 4th, so I found it fitting that she should have her own little leaf.
Father's Day is one holiday I struggle with liking, on a personal level. I do feel, though, that Cory, my children's wonderful dad, redeemes that day. I was looking at cards at the store and just couldn't relate, but I am sooo glad that my children will have wonderful memories with and of their dad. He rocks!! Oh, I also made Cory this awesome cheesecake. It was easy-easier than I thought cheesecake should be, so y'all HAVE to make it!!
Hope y'all have a great Tuesday night!!

Makin' and Doin'

I was so excited to have another craft night with my friend, Amy, the other night!! They are always fun. It feels great to have a project crossed off my list. We decided to tackle these rouched burlap table runners. Inspired by these.
I love the way all the different textures and finishes look on this centerpiece. Lovin' the sweet smell of summer!!

I've had this blue floral Ralph Lauren sheet from Goodwill for sometime now. I just made a pillow cover using it and burlap. The big pillow in the background came from Goodwill for just over $3. It happened to be a Tommy Hilfiger and the pillow insert itself is from Dillards. I just love it when rich folk take their castoffs to the thrift shops!! ;)

I wanted to try my hand at button flowers and love the way these came out. I could not photograph them to save my life, though...

I made Amy one of the blue floral pillows and she made this one above for me. I believe she is going to start selling them.

Here is a little sneak peek at the my master bathroom. I've had this window treatment made for a year and finally got it hung!! The walls are Comfort Gray by Sherwin-Williams.
Want to know what the big news I had to share was?? Remember it from this post?? Well, my friend, Amy, and I were going to have a booth at a local antique shop, but it wasn't meant to be...I am bummed and relieved at the same time. I know that now is just not the right season. It does mean, though, that I have extra furniture, chandeliers, a child's kitchen, and other wonderful bits to sell. Maybe I'll list them on Craigslist or something. Still pondering the right venue...

Well, thanks for dropping by!!
