Lilly Update {part 2}

Hello friends it's Jenny checking in, I am on the phone with Elise right now and she is dictating this post:
Lilly has been moved from ICU to a regular room on the diabetic ward. She is doing much better, coloring is great, able to stay awake for longer periods of time and EAT, she is even able to make mom and dad "jump"... She's coming around indeed... Elise and Cory will be in classes all day tomorrow {Saturday and part of Sunday} learning how to care for Lilly at home and in everyday life. There is a chance Lilly might be able to come home Sunday evening.
Thank you for Lifting Lilly in your prayers...

Elise and Jen, What exceptionally happy news!!! While I have been waiting to comment, I have not been waiting to start praying. Quite the opposite.

When I first read Jen's posting about this, my heart literally dropped. Via two different incidents, I could just imagaine what you, Elise, were going through / up against.

Our fourth son got hit by a car when he was in the fourth grade - and I saw it happen. I clearly remember the ambulance ride, and being forced to wait in the hall while they examined him. And having him admitted to ICU. And all kinds of things which did havic on a mom's nerves, brain, etc..

I still praise the Lord that by far, for the most part, my son came out okay. He's currently 22.

About three years ago I took my husband into the ER. Turned out what was making him so sick was an infection in his leg. An infection which changed from one type, to another (during his hospital stay), till it became strep infection (we had that hospitals "House" eqivilant all confused! Thankfully she was far nicer to work with!!). Strep infection gets into your blood and thus can affect your whole body.It affected the lining of his heart, and his liver, and ... .

But while we were still down in ER, the Dr. came in and asked how long my husband had been diabetic. "I'm not." The Dr. turned and left. ??!?? A while later he came back in. Upon admittance, my husbands blood sugar level had been at 400. According to the Dr. - 600 is usually coma state.

So Elise, when I read about your precious daughters sugar level being way above that, my heart dropped. And tears formed in my eyes. And I just started praying so hard that for your sake, your young ones life might be spared for much longer on this earth.

{The Dr. had had them run a different test after he had left the room, one which shows how long your sugar levels have been what ( isin't techknowledgie something?!!) and it showed that the diabetic condition had been brought on by the infection. (Our bodies components are so interconnected and yet some people believe that it all 'just happened' via some big bang. So-o-o don't get that!!)}

Elise, I bet you too (like I did while standing helpishly in that hospital corridor) have come to have a whole new insight / perspective on Christ dieing for us on that cross. Oh how I wished they could magiclly let my son and I switch places. I wanted so bad to take the pain and suffering for him. I didn't have that option. But Christ did - and He took it. What amazing love!!

Jen, My heart also ached for you. While you and Elise have not met face to face, the two of you know more about one another, and care more about one another, than some life time family memebers ever do about their own siblings.

Elise was in a horrible predictiment, and not only couldn't you do a darn thing for her, you couldn't even wrap your arms around her and absorb her tears. So I prayed for you too. Prayed that God would guide you in what to say over those phone lines. Prayed that He would make you a long distance solid rock and councelor to your friend on His behalf. That you would continually reassure her that His arms WERE around her, and that no matter what the devil might be trying to convince her of, God WAS/IS in control, and ultimitly does know and do what's best, whether it feels that way at the time or not.

Both of you - While I have finally commented, it does not mean I'm stopping my praying about this!!! Nope, nope, nope. I might be dizzy and "have a stone loose" (;-p), but I can still pray!

Jen, thanks for letting all of know about this.

I hope that the classes are very informative and you guys feel confident to leave the hospital, just know that you can always ask for help if you need it. We are all thinking of you and hope that Lilly gets home soon! MIsty

Hey Elise, I met you over at Amy R's one day and at the Cotton Tail Cottage. Amy R has been keeping me updated on Lilly's condition. I have been praying for Lilly and your family. My brother was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 9 years old, and he is now 35. Please if you need someone to talk with who has walked in those shoes before, I would love for you to speak with my mother. She would be a wealth of knowledge for you - experienced knowledge - not just the "book stuff." Let me know and I would love to get you connected with her. More you know, the more you will be equipped to handle any situation that arises. Praying!

Hello! I just happened to come upon your blog. I will absolutely keep little Lilly in my thoughts and prayers.

Our 9 year old son was diagnosed with type 1 last April. I can completely understand your feelings of helplessness, confusion, and concern. I remember those overwhelming feelings. I PROMISE it will get easier for you. I remember when we were discharged from the hospital, I was scared to death to have Ross at home without doctors and nurses nearby. He has done fantastic and is so responsible. While we hate that he has this disease, we feel grateful that we live in this generation and have the technologies to treat it. We also know other families have harder situations to deal with.

If you would like a little information about our situation, please feel free to visit my blog, www.gatorcrusaders.blogspot.com or even e-mail me at stephaniefelker78@hotmail.com.

Our family participated in the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Walk to Cure Diabetes in October. We set a goal to raise $1000 to donate to this fantastic organization that you will quickly become familiar with (They're wonderful!). We ended up raising $4630 to donate to them. Here is a short video I put together to let others know about our story:

Take care. Lilly will feel better soon.

Nice post... Looks like solid-state memory is really beginning to become more popular. Hopefully we'll start seeing decreasing solid-state drive prices in the near future. $5 32 GB Micro SDs for your DS flash card... imagine that!
