A Fab Goodwill Find

I just love Goodwill, don't you?? I joke around that its my home away from home!! I especially love it when someone takes a perfectly good, vintage chest of drawers to Goodwill for me to find. One little secret(not a secret really) is if you see a piece of furniture there is to take the tag off of it and carry it with you. She who has the tag gets the goods. Learned that lesson the hard way when I missed out on a child's rocking chair. I had it in my cart, asked one of the workers the price, and another worker took it from her saying that someone else had the tag for it. Boo hoo...
But, seriously, look at this beauty. Even Heaven above was shining down on it!! $49. I love this piece. Several people were checking her out, but I had the tag!! Learned my lesson. It has a bow front-not sure if you can tell or not. I was wanting a chest for the foyer in the house we don't have yet. Can you just imagine the decorating possibilities?? Ok, I need help in deciding what color to paint her. My original thought was either antique white or black. I don't think I really want to paint her black. Another thought was sage green or blue. Have y'all seen the November issue of Country Home?? It has some great blue painted furniture and kitchen cabinets. Making me want something blue. Bring on the advice!!

I vote for a sanded shabby green... I would normally say black, but since you said you were not wanting to go black, which does actually show WAY too much dust... I vote GREEN... By the way I LOVE that dresser! Score... here is another tip... Not only grab the tag, but if small enough take a drawer with you too... I learned that from a seasoned thrift shopper! ~Jen

I have almost the same dresser! Mine has a bow front and the same knobs. :) I think there is even a date written on the bottom of mine from the 20's or 30's. I'll have to take a peak. Except mine has different feet. Is it a taller dresser? Mine is. I've had mine for awhile now...my mom got it at an auction and it was my brother's for awhile and then I got it when I graduated from college.

Can't wait to see what you decide to paint it. I'm always a sucker for robin egg blue. :)

That's a great find. I guess the color would depend on the wall where you are putting it. I kinda like the soft sage green too..maybe you would even like to do some of that crackle look paint on top?

What a great find! I love the bow-front, I could seen it in a blue or even a creamy white and you can spray paint the hardware in an antique bronze. Many possibilities! Have fun!

You got a great piece! Love the bow front. Hmmm.... color I've seen a lot of robin egg blue recently. Or you could do a green and then glaze over top with a brown. The possibilites are endless.

I like the shabby green idea. But if you're thinking blue, my husband and I refinished an antique armoir a few years ago in a great seaglass blue/green. We still love it. The integrity of the piece remains, but with a little flair. A Swiss Coffee-ish white would be nice, too! Have fun!

Oh, I could see a dreamy white with stenciled soft aqua blue and green detailing. It's beautiful, can't wait to see what you do with it.

That is such a neat dresser! If it would match your house I vote for barn red! Happy thrifting!

I vote blue, like that pretty aqua blue, with an antique finish so it looks old. What a great find, love it!!!

Go for antique white. That way you can use it anywhere and for a long time...
I tagged you on my blog...

Fabulous find!! We would go with the sage green with a great antique glaze on top- so many great details and lines that would pop in this color scheme!!
Have a blessed Sunday!

How about a muted red? Sanded with wax rubbed over the top for the glossy finish? Yum
