Something's Fishy...

This post is way overdue. I am still waiting on some pictures from my mom{where are they??}. Since this party happened almost three months ago and I am tired of waiting I will share what I have of Fisher's first birthday party. We had the party at my mom's house the day before Easter.
Anyway...
I decided to go with a fishy theme for Fisher's birthday. I love a fun theme!! I made the sign above from a chalkboard that I got from Joann's{got that idea from Jenny}. Had to set the mood from the get go, you know!!

This is the best photo I could get of Fisher in his shirt I made for him. I'll have to take a picture of just the shirt so you can see it all.

We grilled burgers and Hebrew National hot dogs-yummy, those are the best!!

Mom has had this shell dish forever and I thought it would go great with the theme.

What is a fishy party without Goldfish??

I gave my dad this bowl for Father's day one year with a movie theme. I was glad they kept the fish dish.

For decorations, I went for whatever fishyness I could come up with.

Here is an overview of the living room. The striped bags held goodies for the kids. Now, I don't give a bunch of junky stuff. There were bubbles and individual snack packs of Goldfish{stick with the theme!!} and Teddy Grahams.

The rag tag flag banner I made. Got the idea from Jenny, of course!!

How cute is this centerpiece?? Jenny was so kind to draw some fish and email them to me. She did something very similar to this and when I decided to go for a fishy theme, I immediately thought of hers. I got the sheets from Target and used the flat one for a tablecloth.

Here is the birthday boy's cupcake. I had to use Swedish Fish to top it. I love to have theme parties, do you??

That is really cute! I really like theme parties too. I wish there were boys in our family, I only have 3 little nieces, and they always want princess parties.

So, so, so cute!! You are so creative, my friend!
Funny thing happened: I was reading your post and Will came up and wanted to see. When I sat him on my lap, he immediately pointed to the pic of Fisher and said, "Will!" I thought that was funny since my mom had said that Fisher reminded her of Will.
Anyway, I love birthday party themes! Lily is way into planning her party. This year, we are going to do an icecream theme. (She loves icecream and is not too crazy about the whole cake thing.) I found some super cute icecream cone shaped bowls with tiny matching spoons that I'm going to let the kids make their sundaes in (and they get to take them home as favors). Also, for the cake, I'm going to make a 3 layered cake (white, chocolate, and strawberry) to imitate neapolitan icecream.
Don't you just LOVE having kids?!? It's so much fun!!

What a cute party..I LOVE theme parties, too! I buy the Hebrew National hot dogs, too...I don't like any other kind..well, maybe Dinner Bell..but that's it! I so loved the little potted plant in the prior post, too. You always prove it does not take a lot of money to make or do something nice! Great posts, Elyse!

It turned out great! I didn't know they made orange swedish fish! I thought they were only red! I had those same candles for Luke's birthday :) And you know I have this weird thing with numbers... well there were only 5 different candle patterns and he turned 6 so I was freaking out that two of the candles were the same - I'm nuts... are you sure you want to come here?

Super Cute!! We had a fishy party for my oldest (now 6.5) when she turned three. She wants to repeat it again next year for her 7th birthday (sailing the seven seas!) We'll see if she sticks with it. I'll have to make the goldfish jar - it's adorable!! Great job mama : )

I love, love, love it! What a fun theme. With 3 boys I feel limited sometimes as to how I can be creative with them, but birthday parties always getting my ideas flowing too. You see so many ideas for girls' parties, but not too many for boys. Thanks for sharing!

Adorable! And have I told you before that Fisher is one of my favorite boy names? Your little guy is the first one I've actually run across (other than the actor Fisher Stevens - is he even still around??) Fisher is my mom's maiden name. :)
