I really want to live in an old farmhouse on some land. Yep, I discovered that after we moved into a neighborhood that I thought I always wanted. Hahaha!! I do like having neighbors, but I think it would be so nice to live on a lot of land, have chickens, and hang my clothes out to dry. So, I do what any farmhouse dreamin' girl would do. Turn my new construction home into a farmhouse.
Do ignore the empty cabinet. We had to move it to paint. We are still not finished. I also plan on painting the hutch antique white and shabbying it up a bit. Then hopefully, we can put beadboard in the back of it.
Do y'all remember when I posted about the chandelier?? Thanks to all of your advice, I discovered that I{my husband} could just cut off the plug in part and wire it up in the ceiling. Yay!!
Its really not that dark, but it was cloudy out that day. Also, I realize the window treatments are hanging below the trim, but I am going to eventually put a shelf up there and rehang them. I am lovin' decorating this house and turning it into a home!! On a budget!!

On budget?! NOW I'm impressed!!! I really like how you're turning your home into a farm-house. I want to have a nice farm-style kitchen (in about 6-7 years when the kiddos are a bit older). I'll certainly ask for your advice!
Enjoy your Friday!

Oh! My dream is a farmhouse too! White with black shutters, rasberry red front door, giant front porch....
yours is looking GREAT!!!!
Looking good! I am having fun watching how we are all transforming our new or new-to-us homes in blogland.
Have a super day!

It's looking good! I am a city girl, but now the thought of 4 wheelers and horses has me dreaming!!
Maybe we should switch houses for a month or two - you know, give you a taste of what an old house would really be like :) We're not on a lot of land, but there are more miles of farmland close by than you could ever imagine! Oh, and if it could be in say, February, that would be great! :)
The room looks great! I love the star and the window treatments! Keep up the great work!!

Elise it looks GREAT... Very homey... ahhhh
Elise,
I have a beautiful, beautiful house in the city but would give it up in a second for a small rancher on 5 acres!
Love the light!
Have a great weekend,
Robin~♥
How much fun is this going to be! A farmhouse! You have given me some ideas. I'd love to see some more pictures of those window treatment. Are those staying? Looking forward to the new house. Jackie
When you do it yourself, espically when you do it on a 'budget' (aka: "thrifting"), you appreciate the end results w-a-y more than those whom just have it done for them!
Elise, could be I was looking right at it but didn't see it (8-/)but is there a way to sign up to get notified when you do new postings via email?
Hey Cheryl!!
I am glad you found my blog!! I agree, it is more fun to do things on a budget and I actually enjoy doing it, so even if I didn't have a tight budget I think I would still thrift and yard sale.
Um, as far as an email for when I post...I have no idea. I have never set anything up like that and I am so not technical. If I can figure it out I will add it. I know Google and maybe some other's have a reader that will update you to postings, but I don't have a clue as to how they work. Sorry.
Have a great weekend!!
Thank you thank you! Blondes run in the family! I have been bad lately about posting blogs, I have been very busy though. Have a GREAT weekend!
I LOVE it! Can't wait for your decorating self to come here! Your house already feels like a home, but I know you are having fun fluffing away!
LOVIN it, Elise....seriously. :)
I also want a farmhouse. I have wanted this for all my 30 years of life. My parents almost moved to the country when I was in jr. high and I was SO excited but it never panned out. Someday! Put a vision board together and pray about it, that is what I am doing!
