Bunnies, gaudy gold frames, and school

Hey Y'all!! I love me some bunnies and was so excited to find this at my home away from home, Goodwill. I am trying to decide whether to paint the frame an antique white, black, or leave it gold. Originally I liked the gaudy gold frame and thought I might just go over it with a more antique gold craft paint. What do you think? What would you do?

Oh, and we started school yesterday!! I have decided to go with Five In A Row. I somehow ended up with it last year. It seems to be going well so far. We are currently reading Lentil, because the library was out of the Ping book. Lentil is a very cute book about a little boy who couldn't whistle or sing so he took up the harmonica. I am very excited to take my children to a nearby town to look at memorial statues like the one in the book and I will also share all the scarecrows the town is making. They are trying to beat the current town in the Guinness Book for the most scarecrows. Its very interesting and funny. More later!!

Hi Elise,
I seriously haven't forgotten you.. I PROMISE by tomorrow I will send out the photos-It has been CRAZY around here with school starting and now Mom's computer has gone Kapuut! But I have them all printed out and I have your address all ready-I just need to put the two together!
I like the gold frame alot but if you did want to change it I would probably go with a black tone to bring out the bunnies ears!
Sooo cute.
Enjoy school!

Love your find...It looks good just the way it is but black would be nice too....

Hey Elise... Could you just rub black over the raised area just to darken it a little. Just give it an aged patina. That would look awesome.

I like the idea of a little patina too. What a cool find! I love the bunnies. We just got a real live bunny a couple of weeks ago! I once found a vintage rose painting for $5 at a garage sale. It's my very favorite picture I own!

*love* the bunnies! I found an awesome thrift store in Cumming by the way ... it's called "The Place to Shop"

I really enjoyed using Five in a Row! I have many of the books if you want/need to borrow them (like Ping). We may pull Lydia out this year and if we do we'll be using Beyond Five in a Row. If you Google Five in a Row you'll find their website and their message boards are THE BEST out there for ideas, information and support.

I'd love to help you out any way I can with FIAR :)

Oh, Elise!
We just loved Five in a Row!
Back when we used it, though, more of the books were OOP. Homeschoolers have really gotten out there and have encouraged alot of great literature to be re-published!
Anywho, Madeleine and How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World were among our favorites!
There used to be a few FIAR groups on the internet. Are they still around? they were alot of fun to particpate in! Hope that you're able to find them!
Blessings,
Julie

I would paint it black although I like the other ideas about grubby-ing (is that a word?) up with black on the gold!

I love the picture. I would paint the frame a distessed white with the gold showing through.
I'm glad school is going well. I have been thinking about you wondering if you had started.
I would love for you to come see the new house if we can ever get in there!

I love me some Magic Eraser so that's all you had to say! As for the frame, I would paint it black because it looks like there is some black in the painting, and it might bring it out more. Good find! :) And thanks for visiting me today!

Ohhh!! Great find! I would paint the frame kind of like an antique black. Not solid but a little gold showing through.

Hi! I just found your blog today and have enjoyed exploring it. I know this is an old post but I had to comment on it...we used Five in a Row when I was homeschooling several years ago. My son still talks about some of the books occasionally. He just brought up Lentil recently!
