Movie Interiors

Okay, so I should be in bed, getting rested up so I can be a good mama for my sweet wee ones tomorrow. But, I had a Dr. Pepper and I seriously don't think sleep is gonna happen for a while. Instead, I have decided to shoot for a fun post. Do you ever just watch movies for the home decor?? I don't necessarily watch them for the decor, but I do notice and appreciate good design. Sooo, here is a small list of my favorite cinematic decor. I would love to hear your's...

1. Anne of Green Gables***Loved her bedroom and wanted it for my own.
2. You've Got Mail
3. Little Women
4. Nanny McPhee***I loved the children's attic bedroom. Though I can't say for certain why in that big home they all shared a room.
5. Something's Gotta Give
6. Charlotte's Web(2006)***Loved that kitchen.
7. Prancer
8. Gilmore Girls***I know its not a movie, but still the same, I loved all the interiors.
9. Hope Floats
Here's my list, what's your's??

Elise- Girl, you know I'm still up! We should have a slumber party!:) We could chat, craft, snack, etc... I loved Diane Keaton's beach house in "Something's Gotta Give"! What a dream... How about the old farmhouse in "The Family Stone"! Just give me a cozy window seat full of pillows and I am happy.:)

BTW, I adore "Anne of Green Gables".:) You, my friend, are a true "kindred spirit".:) Lori

Hi Elise! Fun post! I personally like "pioneer" shows so I can see their primitive decor. :)

I'm so glad you and your family had a nice Christmas! Happy New Year to you!

Yes, I did make that painting in my #7. :) It was my first attempt at abstract art with a primtive twist. Since palm Sunday fell on 3/16 last year, our pastor challenged us to make a creation for our favorite 3:16 from any of the books of the bible. I had many but chose, Colossians 3:16. :) My church wanted to keep it but don't know where it is at...I have an urge to make more, it was a lot of fun to make.

I was watching "The Breakup" with a friend of mine right after it came out on DVD. We both decided it stunk about a quarter of the way through the movie but I told her we had to keep watching it because the apartment's decor was so phenomenal!!! And of course I absolutely LOVE the beach house in "Something's Gotta Give".

I like the apartments in "When Harry Met Sally"....I was just watching it a few days ago and commented to my hubby about how great their places were. Of course he looked at me like I was insane :-)

Men just don't get it!

ps Oh and I love the "Home Alone" house :-)

I always catch the decor in a movie...Thought I was the only one...Glad to see it's not just me! *smiles*

As far as names go, have not a clue...But I will also mention that I love looking at the real estate sites at the homes in certain areas...Most have interior pictures and I love getting ideas!

Yes! Something's Gotta Give is one of my favorites, so is the Father of the Bride house. Home Alone is up there too. I always look at the houses during movies, maybe it is a girl thing! My husband wouldn't even notice!

The children's bookstore in You've Got Mail almost makes me weep, I love it so much.

And I love the paintings in the house in Signs. I think they were all Grant Wood landscapes.

Hi Elise,
Just got the link to your blog and thought I would "come on over"
I would live in the Shop Around the Corner, I love it! Have you seen Australia??? Wow, was all I could say after I saw the interior of her house after she had fixed it up, it was so beautiful and rustic and full of fine things, but with the harsh Australian outback in the background. I have to get that DVD just so I can freezeframe that interior and try to replicate it.
